Why do university students choose tourism degrees? Interests analysis and employ-ment expectations for students from Universitat de València

2019

Interests that drive students to choose a Tourism degree will condition their behaviour in their studies and lat…

(Media and corruption scandals in Spain: plain…

2013

| Starting from the idea that journalism is, in liberal democratic regimes tradition, a brake on the arbitrariness of those who govern and that the media, parti…

Nietzscheańskie tropy w "Römerbrief" Karla Bartha

2015

The article examines the inflence of Friedrich Nietzsche’s thought on the second edition of Karl Barth’s commentary on the Epistle to the Romans from 1922. The paper concentrates on direct quotations and references by name to the philosopher in the work discussed. All quotes are presented, analysed and compared with the source text. Subsequently, the similarities and differences in terms of the contents between the interpretation of the theologian and the philosophy adopted by him are outlined. The results can be divided into three thematic groups. The fist relates to the criticism of the historical thought and ahistorical concept in which Barth’s understanding of faith is immersed. The sec…

Identification of avarol derivatives as potential antipsoriatic drugs using an in vitro model for keratinocyte growth and differentiation.

2006

Contains fulltext : 49512schalkwijk.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Avarol, a marine sesquiterpenoid hydroquinone, and 14 avarol derivatives have shown interesting anti-inflammatory properties in previous studies. In this study, avarol and derivatives were evaluated in high-throughput keratinocyte culture models using cytokeratin 10 and SKALP/Elafin expression as markers for respectively normal and psoriatic differentiation. Avarol and five of its derivatives (5, 10, 13, 14 and 15) were selected for further study. Only 10, 13, 14 and 15 were able to inhibit keratinocyte cell growth. Changes in expression levels of 22 genes were assessed by quantitative real time PCR (qPCR). From …

KEYNES’S EUROPEANISM AS SHOWN IN “THE ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES OF THE PEACE”

2012

European integration and enlargement, in the context of decreasing support of European country nationals, needs great men and great ideas standing with. J.M.Keynes proves in his book”The Economic Consequences of the Peace” that there is no other way for Europe than acts together. His economic reasons for which European countries “throb together” are presented here and supported with data. This article, with a historical approach, brings another important and strong view on the side of Europeanism.

The case for strategic international alliances to harness nutritional genomics for public and personal health

2005

Nutrigenomics is the study of how constituents of the diet interact with genes, and their products, to alter phenotype and, conversely, how genes and their products metabolise these constituents into nutrients, antinutrients, and bioactive compounds. Results from molecular and genetic epidemiological studies indicate that dietary unbalance can alter gene-nutrient interactions in ways that increase the risk of developing chronic disease. The interplay of human genetic variation and environmental factors will make identifying causative genes and nutrients a formidable, but not intractable, challenge. We provide specific recommendations for how to best meet this challenge and discuss the need …

De novo GRIN2A variants associated with epilepsy and autism and literature review

2021

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDAR) are di- or tri-heterotetrameric ligand-gated ion channels composed of two obligate glycine-binding GluN1 subunits and two glutamate-binding GluN2 or GluN3 subunits, encoded by GRIN1, GRIN2A–D, and GRIN3A–B receptor genes respectively. Each NMDA receptor subtype has different temporal and spatial expression patterns in the brain and varies in the cell types and subcellular localization resulting in different functions. They play a crucial role in mediating the excitatory neurotransmission, but are also involved in neuronal development and synaptic plasticity, essential for learning, memory, and high cognitive functions. Among genes coding NMDAR subunits…

Slow magnetic fluctuations and superconductivity in fluorine-doped NdFeAsO

2015

Among the widely studied superconducting iron-pnictide compounds belonging to the Ln1111 family (with Ln a lanthanide), a systematic investigation of the crossover region between the superconducting and the antiferromagnetic phase for the Ln = Nd case has been missing. We fill this gap by focusing on the intermediate doping regime of NdFeAsO(1-x)F(x) by means of dc-magnetometry and muon-spin spectroscopy measurements. The long-range order we detect at low fluorine doping is replaced by short-range magnetic interactions at x = 0.08, where also superconductivity appears. In this case, longitudinal-field muon-spin spectroscopy experiments show clear evidence of slow magnetic fluctuations that …
